The company has conducted many surveys of freshwater
and wetland habitats, including entire forest wetland systems,
inventories of plant and fauna values, and management options.
Staff are experienced in the recognition of
native freshwater fish species, frog species, and threatened
plants.
Surveys have included:
Evaluating wetland habitats and providing
conservation values rankings associated with proposed draining
for forestry development.
Freshwater fish species diversity
and abundance, habitat assessments, and water quality management
options, in exotic forest and natural areas environments.
Species monitoring and water quality
test monitoring to protect freshwater habitat values.
Water quality testing was conducted in the headwater
catchment area of streams draining an exotic forest.
Many of the streams had good populations of native fish,
particularly banded kokopu, and endemic Hochstetter’s
frogs were also found.
